Feeling Right At Home

I have to pinch myself. Yesterday I was laying in a cage with newspapers for a bed. Today, I'm laying on a couch in a warm and loving home. Maybe tomorrow I'll be getting comfy at your home. Let Illinois Birddog Rescue tell you more about me. I could be the one you've been waiting for.

This is what her foster mom had to say after the first day. She is also fostering Cameron. (Click on name to view his blog)

"she has a very sweet temperment. she has played with tasha a little bit, but you can tell she is still a little under the weather. both she and cam are quite good at finding the hidden pill in their food. they bite the food with their front teeth to find the pill and spit out the pill. the four of us went for a walk. minty seemed almost like she didn't know what to do. By the end of the walk, we kind of had our act together. i agree that minty may already be housetrained. she doesn't always want to go outside with the other dogs and she is always the first one at the door to come back in, so i have to wait a little to make sure she has been out long enough. I think they are quite comfortable. Minty makes herself at home, finding the bigest stack of blankets to lay on.

Minty is very sweet and will be a good companion for someone. very lovable."

Saturday when she was picked up from the shelter and taken to the vet for a check-up, she found a puppy to play with. She is a very social dog.

and she is cat safe. All she was interested in was giving the kitty a sniff.

It was a rainy, gloomy day. The shelter was crowded. Some were there to pick out a new puppy. But I was in a room no one could see. Was I doomed to be all alone? No one to fuss over me. No one to see how sweet I was. Then a volunteer brought these two ladies to the room. They stopped by my cage. They were talking to the volunteer, never moving from my door. Could it be? Would they be the ones to get me out? Then the door opened. The volunteer reached inside and then I knew. I was FREE!!!!! These ladies came for me. I couldn't help it, I had to hug them. I had to show them I WAS the one they needed to leave with. They agreed and I held my head high, my tail started wagging once again, I was leaving the shelter, ALIVE!!! I hope my roommates at the shelter found their angels too.
